The pioneer Amazon Fresh store is located in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles (California) and will open to the public in a few weeks
The online shopping tycoon Amazon has announced that within the next few weeks it will open its first physical grocery store to the public. Amazon Fresh will be located in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles (California) and combines the conventional grocery shopping experience with the technological tools of the internet giant.
Associated with the supermarket chain Whole Foods, the Amazon Fresh store will offer, aside from its traditional home delivery and store pickup, the possibility to enter and shop just like at any other grocery store, offering different features with the goal of improving the customer experience.
The technology available at the store will direct the shoppers throughout the store in an efficient manner, guiding them to the products on their shopping lists created with Alexa. There will also be Alexa devices distributed throughout the store, offering the opportunity to inquire on the whereabouts of any given product.
Furthermore, this location launches the Amazon Dash Cart, a smart shopping cart that scans the products that are placed in it, facilitating a quicker and easier checkout process. Shoppers won’t have to wait in line for checkout, but rather load their products into their cart, log into the Amazon app using the Amazon Fresh QR cod, and exit through the “Dash Cart” zone to complete their payment.
Aside from the wide offering of low-priced products, the store will also sell foods prepared in the store, like fresh-baked bread, made-to-order pizzas, rotisserie chickens, and hot sandwiches. Of course, you will also be able to find high quality fresh produce, meats, and fish.
Buying groceries at the Amazon Fresh store will also offer savings opportunities: you can get 5% back when paying with an Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card or an Amazon Prime Store Card. On top of this, Amazon Prime clients will still be able to enjoy free same-day shipping when ordering from the Woodland Hills store.
The first physical Amazon Fresh store will be a step towards a future of smart supermarkets centered around the efficiency that technological advances can offer, creating a new way to buy your groceries.
